DA hits roof over Selebi’s state benefits

Jackie Selebi draws a state pension.

Former police chief Jackie Selebi, who is serving 15 years in jail for corruption, was not discharged from the SAPS and his contract was simply allowed to lapse – meaning he is drawing a pension and benefits.

Responding to this revelation, given by Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa in a reply written to her written question, DA MP Dianne Kohler Barnard, said: “ It is shocking. He should have been given a dishonourable discharge. Protecting an ANC cadre – that’s what this is all about.”
