SABC corporate affairs group executive Hlaudi Motsoeneng is facing another court battle.

The DA is demanding that he not hold any position at the public broadcaster.

In the latest court battle, DA federal executive chairperson James Selfe said yesterday that they wanted to see the back of Motsoeneng once and for all.

He was moved from his
position as chief operating officer to corporate affairs a
few days after a Supreme Court of Appeal judgment three weeks ago.

The DA said the SABC and Motsoeneng had violated the law and the legal ruling.

This time, the party wants the Western Cape High Court to rule that he isn’t allowed to hold any position at the SABC in order to avoid a situation in which the public broadcaster circumvents the law.

Motsoeneng has been in and out of court in the last two years with a myriad court challenges.

Selfe said the DA wanted the court to declare him unfit for any position.

This follows Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s
finding in February 2014 that Motsoeneng was unfit to occupy any position at the
corporation.

Madonsela also found that Motsoeneng had forged his matric certificate.

In Parliament last week, EFF MP and deputy leader Floyd Shivambu described Motsoeneng’s actions as fraudulent.

Shivambu added that the country couldn’t afford to have such people in key positions and that Motsoeneng had disrespected the rule of law.

The ANC in Parliament also urged the SABC to remove him.

The cabinet and President Jacob Zuma said the SABC and Motsoeneng couldn’t interpret the law in any way they pleased as the judgment was clear.

Minister in the Presidency Jeff Radebe said it was a violation of the constitution and Motsoeneng needed to leave.

SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said the public broadcaster would peruse the court documents before deciding whether to oppose the DA application.
