THE DA has confirmed that its suspended councillor, Sam Pienaar, will be investigated for bringing the party into disrepute.

Pienaar allegedly failed to declare his involvement in the Trojan Horse massacre 30 years ago in which three young people were gunned down.

Pienaar, who chairs subcouncil 6 (Bellville South, Belhar, Ravensmead and Glenhaven), was appointed to the position last June and earns in the region of R800 000 yearly.

Last week he was meant to give reasons why the DA should not discipline him for non-disclosure.

Last night DA federal chairperson James Selfe confirmed that Pienaar would be charged. Selfe said further details would be announced by the party’s internal disciplinary body.

Pienaar had been commander of the SADF’s civilian unit operating on the Cape Flats in 1985 when he was present at the planning of the attack against protesters.

Jonathan Claasen, 21, Shaun Magmoed, 15, and Michael Miranda, 11, were killed and several people injured.
