ANY hopes of a relaxing and celebratory Easter weekend will soon be dashed as South Africa's power utility Eskom warns of a 'high probability', of national blackouts of Thursday and Friday.

Surely leaving most residents in a pickle as they prepare their traditional pickled fish and hot cross bun lunches.

This announcement comes off the back of the suspension of Eskom CEO Zola Tstotsi. Acting CEO Koos Radebe said Eskom is shutting down in preparation for the implementation of a groundbreaking device which requires a maximum electricity usage of 30Watts. The device called Seamless Motive promises to reduce the number of load shedding the country is experiencing and to stop the household from the blackouts.

As soon as the announcement was made, various consumers took to social media lashing out at Eskom. Pastor Philemon Gerber from the Gay Rights community church, lashed out on twitter saying this is outrageous. 'With the recent electricity hike, Eskom cannot expect its consumers to fork out more money for a device that is still in a pilot stage.

This came after Eskom had reportedly denied claims that it was preparing for a national blackout last weekend after it conducted a national exercise, labelled Exercise Breaking Dawn to assess the countries readiness for a worst case scenario, two week black out (readers can recollect scenes of The Purge - a kick ass movie- at this point.)

The brass geyser shaped prototype powered by Sloof Electronics, which has been in development for the past six months and secretly tested during the provinces multiple load shedding periods is due to hit stores tomorrow at a cost ranging from R500 to R1000 per unit.

The cylindrical device which should be preferably be mounted in a central position in the household is powered by a conventional three prong plug and has 4-8 additional sockets (depending on which model you buy) located on its outer circumference to power various household appliances with a few limited edition eco-friendly solar powered variations also to be offered as a launch specials.

'We apologize for any inconvenience caused during the start of the Easter break and assure consumers that power will be restored by Friday evening', acting CEO Koos Radebe said
