Ex director guilty of sex assault
Johannes Kleinhans, 74, has been found guilty on 95 counts, including the sexual assault of three girls, by the Parow Magistrate’s Court.
The charges included indecent and sexual assault, possession of child pornography and taking pornographic photographs.
Kleinhans, who formerly held directorships in several companies, listened calmly as magistrate Amanda van Leeve delivered judgment. Kleinhans had pleaded guilty, but this was changed to not guilty when his testimony in mitigation amounted to a denial of wrongdoing. Van Leeve said Kleinhans had tried to give the impression he was a “good and kindly old man” by showering his victims and their impoverished parents with gifts and financial aid
