WANT to show off your science skills to music?

Get writing and maybe you’ll be recording soon.

Hip-Hop Science Space is calling on pupils to create original songs to convey a scientific principle or concept.

“The winning song will be professionally recorded and distributed to all Science Spaza clubs.

"Not only will you be learning science, you will also be teaching other learners across South Africa,” said Science Spaza.

So this is what you do: choose a science topic from a Science Spaza resource, pick up to four facts, write a song about those facts and perform it.

No swearing!

You have until November 30.

Look on the Science Spaza website at www.sciencespaza.org for free resources.

If you want some inspiration, listen to some of last year’s hip- hop songs on Soundcloud.com (look for Science Spaza). There you’ll find hip-hop meeting the electromagnetic spectrum, lasers and light.

The initiative was music communication specialist Hilary Kromberg's brainchild. Science Spaza is managed under the auspices of the Yazi Centre for Science and Society in Africa.
