HOT and windy: that’s the weather forecast for Sunday when thousands of cyclists will take to the Peninsula’s roads for the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour.
Those who are faster will have an easier time as they will have finished the race by the time the wind and heat reach their peaks in the afternoon, according to Calton Fillis of the SA Weather Service.
“In the afternoon the wind and the temperatures will increase, so it will be unpleasant. The wind will be stronger on the eastern side of the peninsula, from Muizenberg down to Cape Point, but not so bad on the western side, apart from spots like Kommetjie where it funnels,” Fillis said.
