A MOVIE about Nelson Mandela has received the coveted “audience favourite feature award” at the Aspen Filmfest in the US.
The film, Mandela: A Long Walk To Freedom, produced by Anant Singh, is about events that took place before Mandela’s release from prison.
The award, announced on Thursday, followed the critical acclaim it received at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
Mandela: A Long Walk to Freedom emerged as the most popular film at the Aspen festival.
“Even though the Aspen Filmfest is a small festival it is very prestigious. It has the best of the line-up in the run up to the 2014 Academy Awards,” said Singh.
He said he and the crew were delighted that Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom came out tops, particularly as it was up against quality films.
It will be released in South Africa on November 28 through United International Pictures. – Staff Writer
