TABLE Mountain has been identified as one of the landmarks to “go red” on World Aids Day tomorrow.
And the City of Cape Town has a line-up of events to honour those who have died because of the disease.
The city’s Mayco member for health, councillor Lungiswa James, urged Capetonians to empower themselves by knowing their status and getting tested. “People must enjoy the festive season, but must take care to be responsible,” James said.
“A lot of people are… disclosing their status openly to encourage others to see that one can live a better, healthier life.”
Ivan Bromfield, executive director for city health, said: “Getting infected with HIV is no longer a death sentence.”
