A 24-year-old man who stabbed three people – one of them fatally – during a bar brawl was arrested soon after.
A blood-stained knife was recovered from the suspect in the Ladysmith CBD, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Monday.
“On Friday evening, one of the three was fatally stabbed at Plaza Centre and was declared dead on the scene. The others were taken for medical treatment,” police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane said.
Zwane said police responded quickly and they traced the man to a building in the CBD.
“The suspect faces a charge of murder, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm as well carrying a dangerous weapon and he is due to appear in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on Monday,” Zwane said.
The 29-year-old deceased has not yet been identified. – African News Agency
