A Johannesburg school principal has been arrested for the alleged rape of two pupils.

Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Xoli Mbele said the principal of the inner-city independent college was arrested on Saturday.

Mbele said a 15-year-old girl reported the alleged rape in October.

“The girl was living with the principal at his home with the permission of her parents because of the distance she had to travel to school. When she reported the rape, the parents immediately removed her from the home.”

During investigations, another pupil came forward, also accusing the man of raping her.

The man appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court yesterday and was remanded in custody until his bail application next week.
