IN DOING their bit for this Mandela Day, celebs and sports stars were joined by volunteers in Paarl where they visited the Rusthof Retirement Homes and handed blankets, socks, and treats to the residents.
Among those who participated were Mandela's former secretary, Zelda le Grange, Olympic swimmer Ryk Neethling, TV personality Siv Ngesi, and musician Karen Zoid.
Stormers players Siya Kolisi, Scarra Ntubeni, Eben Etzebeth, Frans Malherbe also made it - less than 24 hours after their match in Pretoria against the Blue Bulls on Saturday.
Rusthof manager Alvira Kleinhans said it was a privilege for their residents to meet and interact with the people they normally only get to see on television.
Before they left, the residents wished Kolisi and his team luck for the remainder of the Super Rugby tournament.
