OVER 100 volunteers gathered at the Rylands Civic Centre in Gatesville on Sunday morning to help pack 18 000 food parcels for families this coming Eid.
The SA National Zakah Fund (Sanzaf) is intensifying its annual Fitrah campaign, with the national campaign striving to aid 23 000 families.
The volunteers assembled food packages consisting of groceries such as cooking oil, rice, chicken, sweets, potatoes and onions and more.
Sanzaf General Manager Yasmina Francke said beneficiaries would receive parcels through Mosque's within their communities.
She said while families will be able to have a festive meal come Eid-ul-Fitr, more families could be assisted every month by continued Fitrah donations
Sanzaf welcomes any person willing to contribute their assistance or more during this time.
