The Department of Water and Sanitation in the Western Cape wishes to inform citizens about the latest dam levels across the province.

Last week's storm did not have the desired impact on dams.

Less rain was received than anticipated, and it mostly wet the land.

The increase in river flows was insignificant, leading to insignificant inflows into dams.

Western regional head Rashid Khan said there was a reduction in dam levels decreasing.

“There is a noticeable turnaround in the dam levels.

"However, much more rain is required to significantly increase them," he said.

According to the dam-levels assessments yesterday, the combined average dam levels for the Western Cape Water Supply System were at 19.48% compared to 17.63% last week.

The South African Weather Service has predicted rainfall for this week.

There is still a 20% water restriction imposed by the department.

It will be lifted only once the dams reach 85%.
