ONE of the world’s most gruelling inflatable boat races kicked off at Plettenberg Bay yesterday and ends at Gansbaai Harbour on New Year’s Day.

Yesterday 34 inflatable boats took to the waves in the annual Trans Agulhas Challenge.

The weather played along perfectly, there was very little wind and the water was flat.

The boats made their way from Hobie Beach to Nature’s Valley and Brenton on Sea, passing Knysna.

After a number of checkpoints, 27 boats landed at Santos Beach in Mossel Bay, where they were greeted by more than 2 000 people.
