FOUR men have been arrested in connection with the murder of Bronx owner Bruno Bronn and are expected to appear in court today.
Bronn’s body was discovered by his domestic worker at his Green Point home last Tuesday.
The 50-year-old had marks around his neck and his hands were tied in front of him.
It was established that Bronn’s BMW was missing.
Police spokesman November Filander said four people allegedly linked to the killing had been rounded up over the weekend.
They faced a murder charge and were expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court today.
Filander said the arrests unfolded as follows:
l A man of 36 was arrested in the Bo-Kaap on Saturday.
Late last week, police appealed to the public for information about this man’s whereabouts.
After receiving tip-offs from the public, police tracked the man down to a flat in Yunus Street, where he was taken into custody.
l A second person, aged 29, from Salt River, was questioned about the murder, then arrested.
l Working with the metro police’s substance abuse unit, police arrested a third person late on Saturday, about 12 hours after the first man was taken into custody.
This third suspect, a 35-year-old man, was arrested in Koeberg Road in Brooklyn.
Bronn’s stolen BMW was then traced to a complex in Parklands, Milnerton, where it was recovered.
l The fourth person, aged 35, was arrested early yesterday in Goodwood.
Police seized his vehicle, a dark blue Condor, which they allege was used in the commission of the crime.
Filander said the four suspects could face more charges as the investigation progressed.
He said the case was at a sensitive stage and he could not answer any other questions.
Last week, Ari Nitzan, a DJ at Navigaytion, another club owned
by Bronn, said he and a few others had warned Bronn about a man, one of those arrested at the weekend.
Nitzan said that two days before Bronn was found murdered, the nightclub owner told his friends he was afraid because the man was harassing him.
Bronn had said that the man had stolen from him before.
Another of Bronn’s friends, Bash Rihawi, told the Cape Times he had stayed with Bronn until late on Sunday, as Bronn had told his friends he was scared and traumatised.
At the time of Bronn’s murder, the Bronx had been closed for about three weeks as the club was struggling to make money.
Also, the building in which it was situated was being revamped, Rihawi said.
