THOUSANDS of sneaker enthusiasts are expected to flock to GrandWest for the largest sneaker trade show in South Africa – the Sneaker Exchange.

Event organisers have invited young and old to come and buy, trade and sell any kind of sneaker.

The Sneaker Exchange will be hosted on Saturday, October 29 at GrandWest’s Sun Exhibits venue.

Organiser Zaid Osman said: “People wishing to swop a pair of their sneakers are welcome to trade them in with a willing trader, while those who have a stack of sneakers to sell can set up a store. No fake brands are permitted.”

Osman said Sneaker Exchange began in a coffee shop in Woodstock in 2013, and has since grown with South Africa's sneaker culture.

In 2013 it was held in Durban, Johannesburg and at Zip Zap Circus on the Foreshore, he said. After GrandWest, it moves to The Sands in Sandton.

"You can pick up shoes for R300, but the most expensive shoes will go for around R25 000, which would probably be the Kanye West Yeezy. You can also swop with anyone.”

The event will include entertainment by local DJs and artists, including DJs Easy, Reddy D, Switch, Miss Celaneous, Shane Eagle, Aewon Wolf, Youngster, Da L.E.S, Speedsta and more, said Osman.

Tickets are on sale at
Computicket for R60 a person and also at the door on the day at R80 a person.
