Police are investigating the motive for a shooting outside popular cocktail bar Cubana in Green Point in which three people were wounded.

The incident happened early yesterday.

Police spokesman Frederick van Wyk said two men and a woman were wounded outside the establishment in Somerset Road at 4.20am.

He said the three were shot in the chest, hand and neck respectively and were rushed to hospital.

“According to eyewitness the suspect went to his vehicle (a two-door red Astra) and took out his firearm and randomly shot at the victims,” Van Wyk said.

The motive for the shooting was unknown at this stage and officers were probing it, he added.

Van Wyk said after firing the gun, the suspect drove away in his car.

An arrest has not been made yet.

Yesterday when the Cape Times phoned Cubana, an employee said she had been told not to comment.

“In any case, we don’t know what happened,” she said.

Managers were in a meeting.

Van Wyk said anyone with information about the incident should contact CrimeStop on 08600 10111. – Staff Writer
