Two bodies found at city water plant

Police have appealed to the public for information after two bodies were found behind a wastewater treatment works between Mitchells Plain and Strandfontein yesterday.

One body was burned beyond recognition and its gender could not be determined, police spokesman Frederick van Wyk said. The other body was that of an unidentified man, believed to be in his 30s. He had a single stab wound in the back.

Police did not suspect the killings to be gang-related, he said, and added that no people were reported missing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Warrant Officer Pieter Joubert on 021 370 1738 1600.
