Two people were critically injured and two others, one a nine-year-old child, hurt when the car they were travelling in overturned on the N2 outbound after the Borchards Quarry off-ramp on Sunday morning, Western Cape paramedics said.

Paramedics from ER24, Metro Rescue, and Metro Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived on the scene, where they found the car lying on its roof in an open veld, ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak said.

“It is believed that most of the occupants were ejected when the vehicle overturned. An adult and a child were found with moderate injuries.

“Another two adults were found with critical injuries. The critically injured adults had to be placed on life support on (the) scene.”

The injured were transported to Tygerberg and Groote Schuur hospitals respectively. The child was transported to Red Cross Children’s hospital.

The cause of the accident was not yet known, Vermaak said. – African News Agency
