World Cup 2014 leading goal scorers

We've seen penalties, extra time and loads of drama on and off the soccer field during the world cup. With matches remaining , there is certainly more drama to be had.

1. James David Rodríguez Rubio

(born 12 July 1991), usually known as James Rodríguez or simply James (hahm-ez) is a Colombian footballer who plays for Ligue 1 club AS Monaco and the Colombian national team.

2. Lionel Andrés Messi

born 24 June 1987) is an Argentine footballer who plays as a forward for Spanish club FC Barcelona and the Argentina national team. He serves as the captain of his country's national football team.

***Thomas Müller

born 13 September 1989) is a German footballer who plays for Bayern Munich and the German national team. Müller plays as a midfielder or forward, and has been deployed in a variety of attacking roles - as an attacking midfielder, second striker, and on either wing. He has been praised for his positioning, team work and stamina, and has shown consistency in scoring and creating goals.

***Neymar

Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior born 5 February 1992), commonly known as Neymar or Neymar Jr., is a Brazilian footballer who plays for Spanish club FC Barcelona in La Liga and the Brazilian national team as a forward or winger.

3. Karim Mostafa Benzema

born 19 December 1987) is a French international footballer who plays for Spanish club Real Madrid in La Liga and the French national football team. He primarily plays as a striker whose influence can extend out to the wings and is known for his technical ability, powerful style of play, and vast goal-scoring ability.[3] He is described as an “immensely-talented striker” who is “strong and powerful” and “a potent finisher from inside the box”.

****Arjen Robben

is a Dutch professional footballer who plays for the German Bundesliga club Bayern Munich and the Netherlands national team. Robben has appeared at the 2004, 2008 and 2012 UEFA European Championships, and the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups. Though often classified as a forward, he usually plays behind the forwards as a winger. Robben is known for his dribbling skills, speed, crossing ability and his accurate left foot long-range shots from the right wing.

****Robin van Persie

born 6 August 1983) is a Dutch footballer who plays as a striker for Manchester United and is the captain of the Netherlands national team. He is a youth product of Feyenoord.[Having joined Arsenal in 2004, Van Persie became the club captain on 16 August 2011, one year before he joined rivals Manchester United.

He is recognised as one of the best strikers in the world.

His playing style and ability have drawn comparison to Dutch legend Marco van Basten.

***Xherdan Shaqiri

Born October 9, 1993 - is a midfielder of Bayern Munich and the Swiss national football team. He was born in the family of ethnic Albanians in Gnjilane, Kosovo (former Yugoslavia).

Xherdan made his national senior team debut on 5 June 2010 in a match versus Italy, entering the game on the 88th minute as a substitute. He made one appearance for the Swiss national team in the 2010 World Cup. Xherdan was one of the youngest players of that tournament.

***Enner Valencia

(born 11 April 1989) is an Ecuadorian footballer who plays as a striker for Pachuca and for the Ecuador national team.

On 18 January 2014, Valencia scored his first goal in a 2–1 victory against Tijuana.
