ANC national executive committee member Tony Yengeni is expected to approach the Western Cape director of public prosecutions in a bid to enter into a plea agreement with the State regarding a drunk-driving charge against him.
This emerged in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court yesterday when Yengeni made a brief appearance in connection with the drunk-driving charge dating from his arrest in the Cape Town CBD in August 2013. Yengeni’s lawyer, Sylvester Vogel, told the court a proposal would be submitted to prosecution authorities within the next 10 days.
The matter was postponed to May 25.
