asked the Durban-based mixologist for the perfect new year recipes.

It takes a lot for one to become one of the most respected mixologists in the country and Haroon Haffajee is that. He’s a whisky expert, cocktail mixologist, trainer and consultant to top restaurants and bars. 

He works as a Diageo Reserve brand ambassador for KwaZulu-Natal, representing their luxury brands across trade, media, consumer and internal channels. He has worked in the industry for 17 years. 

Who better then to offer you tips on making cocktails that will blow the socks off your guests? 

Tonight We Tanqueray

The perfect way to start off an elegant celebration. 

40ml Tanqueray No TEN gin

12.5ml fresh lemon juice

15ml sugar syrup

rosé bubbly

Shake the first three ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled champagne flute.  

Fill the glass with rosé bubbly, lightly stir and garnish with a spiral of orange zest.
