Trevor Kleinhans launches book

As part of Durban’s Gay Pride Week, local author Trevor Kleinhans presented his book Secrets Make You Sick, at a cheese and wine book fair at Ike’s bookstore in Florida Road.

Kleinhans’s biography includes intimate details of sexual abuse as a child, having an alcoholic parent, being gay in South Africa, apartheid and compulsory military service, becoming HIV-positive and fighting a cocaine addiction.

Durban gay centre spokeswoman, Siphokazi Nombande, said publishers were also at the event, held last week, to speak to aspiring authors.

Durban Gay Pride was a celebration of devotion towards equality for the gay, lesbian and transgender communities in the city. – Books Reporter
