Waves hammered the promenade at Durban’s North Beach on Tuesday morning as the weekend’s heavy seas continued. Beaches and the piers are closed to the public. The uMhlanga promenade also took a pounding on Monday night, with infrastructure damaged and sand dumped. The uMhlanga Urban Improvement Precinct will remove broken bricks and concrete, but will wait for the aftermath of today’s high tide before tackling any repairs or clean-ups.
