Cairo - US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will visit Egypt after the newly elected President Mohamed Mursi takes the oath of office, Egyptian sources said.
The sources did not give an exact date for the visit.
Mursi is expected to take the oath on Saturday, becoming Egypt's first elected civilian president.
Clinton's talks in Cairo will focus on US economic assistance pledged to Egypt, said the sources.
Another priority issue is the operation of US non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Egypt, added the sources.
Last year, Egyptian authorities arrested and put on trial a total of 43 workers for NGOs, including 19 US nationals. The case has seriously strained ties between Egypt and the US, with Washington threatening to withhold $1.3 billion in annual military aid to its key Arab ally.
The foreign defendants left Egypt aboard a US military plane in March after a travel ban on them was lifted. They are being tried in absentia. - Sapa-dpa
