Durban - Durban Transport bus drivers returned to work on Tuesday morning after an intense meeting involving management of operating company, Tansnat, unions and the municipality.

The meeting at the central bus depot follows a strike by drivers which began on Thursday over a delay in the formation of a municipal entity to take over running of the service. City manager, Sibusiso Sithole, reassured drivers the city was committed to forming an entity.

“We are currently at an advanced stage of forming an entity and are engaging with various stakeholders to finalise the process,” said Sithole.

The eThekwini council last year resolved to establish an entity to manage the service from July 1.
