Durban - The man who allegedly partially beheaded a KwaMashu woman in front of her one-year-old baby is still on the run.
SAPS spokesman, Captain Thulani Zwane, said the police were still trying to track down the suspect who has been on the run since last Tuesday.
The body of Nontobeko Mhlongo, 20, was found after her assailant fled when he was disturbed while attempting to cut off her head.
Her one-year-old daughter was found sitting between her legs, crying, on a soccer field in the township’s G-Section.
Mhlongo had laid a charge of assault and applied for a protection order against the man believed to be her alleged assailant before she was killed.
Mhlongo’s aunt, Dudu Nzuza, said they hoped the suspect was arrested soon as they also did not feel safe.
“I find myself crying all the time. She was a good child and was always smiling. It is hard to accept that she is gone,” she said.
