DURBAN - A 30-year old man was rushed to hospital this morning after he was attacked by two Pit Bulls.  The man was jogging along Tinley Manor Beach on the north coast when the dogs attacked him.

Janus van Schalkwyk of IPSS Medical Rescue said the man sustained severe injuries to both arms and legs.

Van Schalkwyk said the man tried to fend off the two dogs, unsuccessfully.

"The owner later saw what was happening, he ran down and tried to pull the dogs of," he said.

He was stabilised at the scene before being rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

This attack comes just days after an elderly woman was mauled by her family Rottweiler.  It is alleged that the dog and another smaller dog were fighting and the woman intervened. The Rottweiler turned on the woman, biting her on her arm, thigh, chest and back. The woman’s arterial artery was also severely damaged during the attack. She was rushed to hospital in a serious condition and underwent emergency surgery. Paul Herbst, spokesman for IPSS Medical Rescue said she was currently in a stable condition would need to have multiple additional operations in the coming weeks.
