The SA Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS) on Thursday announced that a second Comrades runner has tested positive for drugs.
Seventh placed Lesotho runner Lephetesang Adoro’s sample was sent to Germany to be tested and confirmed a positive result for a high concentration of testosterone. He also tested positive for the banned corticosteroid, prednisone.
SAIDS CEO, Khalid Galant was notified of the result and Adoro would now face a charge of doping at an independent tribunal. Adoro tested positive when he was tested with the other top 10 finishers in the men’s and women’s categories, after completing the 2012 Comrades Marathon.
Adoro is the second Comrades top 10 runner to test positive. Marathon winner Ludwick Mamabolo’s A and B samples tested positive for a banned substance. – Daily News Reporter
