KwaZulu-Natal is expected to be hit by severe thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday.

Thursday night just after midnight a huge storm swept across eThekwini, from the Bluff to inland.

The SA Weather Service issued a warning on Fridayday, urging caution in the face of the wet weather.

“The western parts of the province are expected to be the hardest hit with hail, heavy rains and strong winds forecast,” said forecaster Wiseman Dlamini.

Other parts of KZN could expect showers and thunderstorms, too. He said the thunderstorm activity had been caused by the development of a low-pressure system over the interior of the country that moved to the coast.

“Another weaker upper-air low-pressure system added to the severity of the storm last night.”
