Durban - Lectures at the University of KwaZulu-Natal will only resume on Monday.

In a brief statement issued on Wednesday, university spokesman, Lesiba Seshoka, said the decision to suspend lectures and all activities at the university until Sunday night had been taken in consultation with the university’s student representative council.

Reasons for the suspension were not explained, but lectures at the university were first suspended last week on Thursday.

The university’s Pietermaritzburg campus was wracked by protests that saw police use rubber bullets and arrest two students.

There were also protests on the Westville campus.
