Cape Town - Students from Stellenbosch University grew tired of being backbenched at a picket held by UCT academics outside Parliament on Thursday.

A busload of students from Stellenbosch University protested at the entrance of Parliament alongside UCT academics but objected to UCT staffers now being at the forefront of the #FeesMustFall movement.

"At the heart of the picket is our plea to Parliament to help us find a solution to the ongoing unrest but also, more fundamentally, the ongoing funding issue in higher education,” UCT Vice-Chancellor Dr Max Price, who did not attend the picket, said in a statement.

UCT students behind the #FeesMustFall protests snubbed the picket to hold a meeting on Lower Campus.
