London - Diane Lane and Josh Brolin's divorce was a “mutual” decision.

The 45-year-old True Grit actor is “doing well” in the wake of his split from the Perfect Storm actress - who signed her divorce papers on Valentine's Day - and according to his father James Brolin, their separation is amicable.

James, who accompanied his wife Barbra Streisand to the Oscars on Sunday, told People.com: “He's great. You know, everything is mutual. It's all okay. Evidently he's doing well. Everything is fine.”

The 48-year-old actress cited February 13 as the official date of her separation from Josh, even though friends claim the marriage was over for some time, and signed the papers the next day, the most romantic day of the year.

The former couple were originally introduced in 2002 by Barbra and married in 2004 at the actor's sprawling ranch in California.

A source previously revealed: “They've been separated for several months. This was a hard decision for both of them to make. The relationship just ran its course.”

This will be the second divorce for both celebrities. Diane was married to actor Christopher Lambert from 1988 to 1994, while Josh previously split from Alice Adair, with whom he has two children, Trevor, 24, and Eden, 18.

The split comes not long after Josh opened up about their marriage.

He said: “She's a very strong woman, extremely strong.

“We're not really in the spotlight. I mean, we are in times like this (interview), but, you know, there's one light. We just do our own thing, and we always have.

“And we're not in LA all the time, we're up north a lot of the time where I grew up, so, you know, you just do what you do. You don't play up into the hype so much.” - Bang Showbiz
