London - One Direction cried during their visit to Ghana.

The 'Live While We're Young' hitmakers - who are releasing a cover of Blondie's hit 'One Way or Another' to raise funds for charity Comic Relief - visited the poverty-stricken country to film the song's accompanying music video, and were overcome with emotion when they encountered underprivileged school children during the trip.

Harry Styles, 18, told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "We all had moments. If you get involved in it and you don't cry you're superhuman. We've seen appeal films before so we thought we knew what it's like, but when you're there and you get the smells, your eyes hurt from the smoke, you cough, you're feeling it all.

"The crazy thing is, when I went to school, not one person wanted to be there. Yet you go into a school in Ghana and every child loves it."

The band - Harry, Niall Horan, 19, Zayn Malik, 20, Liam Payne, 19, and Louis Tomlinson, 21 - are used to sparing no expense on their music videos but opted to film the charity video themselves.

Niall explained: "We didn't want to make a massive expensive video because that's just a big waste of money. So we kinda made it ourselves."

Meanwhile, Zayn - who was accused of cheating on his girlfriend, Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards, with Australian waitress Courtney Webb last week - appears to have injured his right hand.

The singer was spotted with his hand bandaged during a break from rehearsals with the boy band in London yesterday (30.01.13). - Bang Showbiz
