Last night the most expensive prize to be given away on South African television was won by an internal auditor from Port Elizabeth. Mohammed Kajee will be moving into a R5 million top floor apartment in the luxury Mirage complex in De Waterkant, Cape Town.

He also won a R700 000 Infiniti cabriolet as well as R100 000 in shopping vouchers from Woolworths.

Kajee was announced as the winner on SABC3’s Top Billing. The luxury show ran the competition since August last year and thousands of hopefuls entered from all over the country. Top Billing chose 10 finalists and at an upmarket lunch at Steenberg Wine Estate in Tokai, Kajee was announced final winner.

Presenters Bonang Mothibe and Lorna Maseko were there to hand out the prize to the elated Kajee who looked as if he was about to burst into tears. Producers Patience Stevens and Basetsana Khumalo looked on proudly as the cameras zoomed in on an overwhelmed Kajee when he climbed into the cabriolet and drove off to his new apartment.

The new one-bedroomed apartment has many luxury finishes, including a walk-in closet and 180° view of Cape Town.

There is also a fitted kitchen by Miele, a Hansgrohe bathroom and an open-plan lounge which leads to the balcony with a garden. The home was designed by the Nova Group with the interior architecture by Stefan Antoni.

The television campaign on Top Billing had a weekly update of the flat being transformed from an empty shell to a top class apartment. It was the biggest competition to be run on South African television.
