The much anticipated Gqi music video will be released in March.
Rapper Smiso Zwane, commonly known by his stage name Okmalumkoolkat spoke to IOL about his upcoming music video that he recently shot in Umlazi AA Section, Kwazulu natal.The rapper said he was not planning to shoot the video now, but with so much pressure from fans asking him to, he complied.
The Umlazi born rapper is delighted to have filmed the video in his township, saying the place will be given the spotlight it deserves. " Umlazi hasn't been covered properly on TV, also I wanted it to get some shine,"he said. The scenery was the other reason for choosing the place. " Unlike ordinary townships, Umlazi is green and that makes it very special,"he added.
Gqi from his latest album titled 'Mlazi Milano', is with no doubt loved by many." The way people react to the song through social media is just crazy, I haven't done a lot of shows promoting the track but people go nuts over Gqi," said the rapper. He features his two cousins who call themselves Amadando in the song.
"The recording and shooting was very easy, everything was just flowing as we hang out and dance together, I really enjoyed working with Amadando," he said.
Fans can certainly, as in without question expect lots of dancing in the video. There's also an Umlazi story told. “People will see how things happen down there, the party life and just the life in my township in general".
