South Africa's opera soprano Pretty Yende landed added to the increasing list of South African stars on American television when she sang on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in New York this week. This was Colbert's first show of the year. 

Yende delivered an inspiring rendition of Una Voce Poco Fa from the Metropolitan Opera production of The Barber of Seville, earning her a standing ovation.  She portrays Rosina in the current season of the opera.

She also promoted A Journey, her debut album. Oprah Winfrey was one of the guests on The Late Show and Yende managed to sneak in a selfie with her. 

The 31-year-old from Piet Retief in Mpumalanga took to social media to express her joy at meeting the queen of talk. 

"Finally met this incredible woman. Oprah Winfrey... what a day it has been... I am grateful for this precious moment. 2017 is off on a very high note," she wrote.
