Sajid Khan was his most confident best when he assured Akshay Kumar that Heyy Babyy and Housefull would be commercial successes. As things stand, this turned out to be true.

It was because of this confidence in Sajid that Akshay is said to have immediately agreed to do Housefull 2 once the basic idea had been narrated to him.

Says a source: “In fact, it is a known fact that Akshay as well as Riteish Deshmukh read the film’s script just a few days before leaving for London to participate in the first schedule. Both of them have blind faith in the filmmaker.”

Though one wonders if this was indeed a wise decision since the script could easily make or break a film.

But Akshay has his reasons. “I wouldn’t call it ‘blind faith’, he said. “You see, Sajid is not a narrator, he’s an explainer. He explained to me for months exactly how he wanted Housefull 2 to shape up. I was convinced and excited about what Sajid was making, based on everything he had told me. So you could say I blindly followed him, and gladly so.”

No wonder the team from the first film is confident that the tried-and-tested combination would do wonders with Housefull 2 as well.

“See, the fact remains that Sajid is an audience’s man. He is not interested in making Star Wars. Instead, he wants to make a good Indian comedy that can be loved by everyone, no matter what colour or religion. I love him for that”, said Akshay.

Another major factor that allowed Akshay to take the plunge was his two-decade association with Sajid Nadiadwala.

“We worked together first in Waqt Hamaara Hai (1993) and haven’t looked back since. Here is to many more films together,” concludes Akshay.

Housefull 2: The Dirty Dozen is an upcoming Bollywood action comedy directed by Sajid Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. It is the sequel to 2010’s Housefull and will star Akshay opposite Asin in the lead.

It will also feature Ritesh Deshmukh, Boman Irani, Randhir Kapoor and Chunkey Pandey from the original, while new additions will include John Abraham, Jacqueline Fernandez, Zarine Khan, Shazahn Padamsee, Shreyas Talpade and others. It will also feature veterans Mithun Chakraborty and Rishi Kapoor in supporting roles.

Malaika Arora Khan will feature in an item-number song. The music will be composed by Sajid-Wajid.

The official theatrical trailer was revealed last month, along with Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu.

The sequel was confirmed by producer Sajid Nadiadwala on September 30, 2010. Filming of the movie started on June 9 last year in London and Peterborough. The second schedule started from late October last year.

The Housefull 2 producers hired a Hollywood action set for Akshay’s character, who is said to be a sort of spoof of the spy James Bond. Though the film was expected to be released on June 1 this year, it was announced in September last year that it would now be released on April 5. – www.bollywoodhungama.com, additional information from Wikipedia.com
