GIG OF THE WEEK

Gangs of Ballet

The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway (Monday)

FOR the first time, Durban band Gangs of Ballet will be Breaking the Silence when they perform at The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway on Monday.

Gangs of Ballet is comprised of four musicians and friends – Brad Klynsmith (vocals, electric guitar), Jonathan Rich (keyboard, synths), Hardus de Beer (bass guitar) and Josh Klynsmith (drums, vocals).

According to a press release, each member is an accomplished musician in his own right and the guys have combined their individual tastes and styles to create a sound that is captivatingly fresh.

Originally formed as a side-project, Gangs of Ballet came into official existence at their debut gig opening for aKing in April 2011.Their music cannot be slotted into any specific genre, but is an eclectic mix of alternative, melodic, anthemic, electronic and dance sounds.

Expect to hear hits like Breaking the Silence and other material. – Tonight Reporter
