AMERICAN rap star Eminem will visit South Africa for the first time next year with his Rapture 2014 tour, but will perform only at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday, February 26, and Joburg’s Ellis Park Stadium on Saturday, March 1.

The singer-songwriter, an Oscar winner and 13-time Grammy winner, has sold 80 million albums and 120 million singles, and has had 2.5 billion views online.

The 41-year-old, whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers, and who is also known by his alter-ego Slim Shady, includes among his many hits Without Me, Stan, Lose Yourself and, most recently, his Rihanna collaboration Love the Way You Lie.

He has not performed in Africa.

This month Eminem released his eighth album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2, executive-produced by Dr Dre and Rick Rubin, and containing collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna and Skylar Grey. It includes his new hit single, The Monster, featuring Rihanna.

Prices for tickets for the concerts are still being finalised but go on sale at Computicket from 9am on Thursday. - The Mercury
