All Lady Gaga wanted was for Die Antwoord to open for her when toured South Africa later this year. What she got instead was unadulterated scorn from the controversial zef-rap crew. The “Edge of Glory” singer, however isn’t taking this lying down.

Die Antwoord took their Gaga bashing a step further recently when they released their Fatty Boom Boom video, in which a male Lady Gaga impersonator dons a meat dress, gives birth to a Parktown prawn, and tells Die Antwoord they should open for her.

Gaga responded to the video yesterday with a Twitter diss, playing on a Die Antwoord lyric and her status as one of the biggest pop artists in the world.

“i fink u freaky but you don't have a hit. hundred thousand tIckets sold in SA. #thatmyshit”, she tweeted.

Die Antwoord responded in typically crass fashion: “lady... even tho u r 'larger' than us... we still cooler than u... plus we don't have prawns in our private...”

In an MTV interview in March, Die Antwoord’s tattoed leader Ninja dissmissed Gaga’s music as “superficial sh*t”.

“Lady Gaga asked us to tour with her and we were like, um, no thanks.

“We like making pop music, but we like making hardcore music at the same time, mixing them, but they’ve got, like, soul. It’s not like weak, superficial shit. You know?”

Die Antwoord will open for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers instead, when the US rock group tour South Africa in February next year. - IOL
