GIG OF THE WEEK

Mccoy mrubata quartet

Flambe Restaurant (Tonight)

Once in a while, you want to step into a restaurant to eat decent food. While downing the food with a good glass of wine, you would not mind some good jazz playing in the background.

For some, tonight, this scenario will not just be a dream if you go to Pretoria’s Flambe Restaurant.

The experienced jazz band, McCoy Mrubata Quartet, will be at the venue, playing some of their classics.

The quartet consists of McCoy Mrubata who will be on the saxophone, Paul Hanmer on the keys, Peter Sklair on the bass and Bernice Boikanyo on the drums.

This crew is a well-known group of creatives who will teleport you to a time and place you have never been to before.

They will make sure the mood is just right for you to enjoy what will undoubtedly be a memorable night.

They are considered the cream of South African jazz.

Of course, we have the likes of Hugh Masekela, Jimmy Dludlu and the Soweto String Quartet, but this quartet have managed to carve their own niche.

We will be looking forward to classics like May Morning and Prop Hat which are crowd favourites.

The event is set to start at 7pm and Flambe Restaurant is at CSIR South Gate, Commercial Centre, Meiring, Naude Rd, Bummeria.

You will have to part with R100 to secure a spot. • For more details please call 012 841 4130, 082 803 9355, 072 871 6829 or 071 009 7237. – Munya Vomo
