Johannesburg - Canadian rock giants Nickelback will perform live in South Africa this December.

Promoters Big Concerts announced on Saturday that Chad Kroeger and the boys will be hitting our shores as part of their The Hits Tour. The band will play in Joburg on the 6th and 8th of December at the Coca Cola Dome in Northgate. Proposed tour dates for Cape Town have yet to be revealed.

Formed in 1995, Nickelback are one of the most successful Canadian bands ever, having sold 50-million albums worldwide. Their biggest hit “How You Remind Me” was listed as the rock song of the decade, and helped to elevate the band to number seven on the Billboard list of artist of the decade.

The band released their last album, Here and Now in 2011. Lead singer Kroeger has said that the band will release a Greatest Hits album in 2013, followed by a new album in 2014.

Tickets for the Nickelback performances in Joburg go on sale on Friday at Computicket. Fans can expect to shell out between R450 to R790 for tickets, depending on what view they would like of the action. Mezzanine and disabled seating will set you back R340. - Tonight Reporter
