The inaugural Oude Molen Eco-Village Jazz Festival will be taking place on 04 & 05 March 2017 at the unique Oude Molen Eco-Village in Pinelands.

Known and up and coming artists (including school bands) will be performing from 11 am till 7 pm per day. The following artists will be performing:

The well-known DJ Selwyn Bartlett will be performing between sets and at the chillaxing after-party on Saturday evening.

The event is being organised by the Yes We Can Sport and Jazz Foundation which is based at the community hall in the Oude Molen Eco Village. The Foundation uses sport & cultural activities (particularly jazz) to make a positive impact in the lives of young people.

It has already given back to the community in a positive sense by hosting free school holiday programmes for the kids in surrounding areas, particularly from Maitland-Garden Village.

The Foundation also hosts a free jazz showcase activity which happens at the end of every month which aims at giving up and coming artists a platform to be heard.

There will be an exclusive after-party for VIP guests and other paying patrons, inside the hall, at the end of the first day of the festival.

Meat can be braai’d at the provided braai areas. A few food trucks will be available at a designated traders area to ensure there is a variety of foods for patrons.

The festival organiser Rod Solomons says “the festival is arranged to be mutually beneficial to the surrounding community as well as artists and to profile the hidden gem that is

Oude Molen Eco-Village”. A specific amount of Festival income will be donated to the Oude Molen Eco-Village Tenants Association and the Yes We Can Sport & Jazz Foundation to continue with their community beneficiation projects.

At least TWO local school jazz bands as well as TWO up & coming artists/bands will be featured per day in order to provide them with the necessary exposure.

The tickets are priced as follows to ensure that local Capetonians can afford to enjoy 15 artists who will be performing over the weekend.
