Cape Town - Liekie Fouché's mystical artworks in which she explores the thematic impact of cavernous mountain ranges will be exhibited in Franschhoek this weekend.

Her artworks echo traditionalism while presenting themselves in a refreshingly contemporary fashion. It fuses influences from the early European Renaissance to rich South African landscapes, space-

age motives and everything

in between.

Fouché's work plays with various levels of consciousness and Jungian motives of a "quest" for wholeness. She works primarily with oil pastel and graphite pencil, masterfully applying them to wood board and following through with multiple layers

of varnish.

The exhibition can be seen at Is Art, 11 Huguenot Street, Franschhoek from Sunday until next month. For more information, contact the gallery at [email protected] or 021 876 2071.
