Simon Cowell has bought a racehorse.

The music mogul has teamed up with UK TV presenters Ant and Dec – who present Simon's show 'Britain's Got Talent' – and another friend to purchase the one-year-old thoroughbred and they want to launch the filly's racing career before the summer.

A source said: "Simon has been into racing for years. He has always wanted to be more involved than being just a punter. The opportunity came up to buy a young horse that's destined for the track and they all jumped at the chance. Simon is being guided by Ant and Dec as they have experience in the ownership of horses."

The horse has yet to be named, but friends have joked they should choose Britain's Trot Talent in tribute to the show they all regularly appear on.

One told The Sun newspaper: "As for the name, that's still up in the air but they could do worse than name her after something they're all associated with, like 'Britain's Got Talent'."

Ant and Dec are huge racing fans and are also patrons of the famous Ascot Colts & Fillies Club, which gives children their first experiences of horseracing.

Ant has also spoken in the past of how his dad inspired him to get into racing.

He said: "My father loves racing so we thought we would get involved and buy a horse. It is a great sport and great fun."
