A piece of toast left over by Princes Charles on his wedding day to Princess Diana has sold for £230.
The single slice of white toast was taken by Rosemarie Smith - whose daughter worked for the royal family - on the day of the nuptials in 1982, and it has now sold at Charles Hanson Auctioneers.
A spokesperson confirmed: "The slice of toast went to a UK buyer. There were two telephone bidders fighting it out for the slice. It was exciting.
"There was a round of applause when the gavel dropped, then it was like, 'Oh crumbs, it's sold!'"
Rosemarie recently confessed she took the toast when she saw it had been left outside of Prince Charles' bedroom.
She said: "At the time my daughter was a maid at the palace and one of her duties was to collect Prince Charles's breakfast tray from outside his room.
"I was with her in the corridor and saw Prince Charles had left some toast on the tray. I had been thinking about a keepsake from the wedding and saw the toast and thought to myself: 'Why not'?
"We hadn't talked about it much down the years but Prince William and Duchess Catherine's wedding last year and then Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee has made the royals more popular than ever. That got me thinking that my toast could be worth a bit of money."
