l Everyone’s Hero, M-Net Stars, 19.30

A boy finds himself at an extraordinary crossroads: he has a chance to be a hero – and make a difference against incredible odds – or he can play it safe. With faith in himself instilled by his family, he teams up with a sassy girl and some off-the-wall sidekicks and embarks on a sometimes perilous, often funny, cross-country quest. In the process, he restores his family’s honour, befriends the world’s biggest sports superstar and reveals the hero within.

On the menu is roasted butternut squash salad with warm cider vinaigrette followed by sole meunière inspired by the street markets of Paris then, for dessert, a French apple tart.

l Just For Laughs Galas, Comedy Central, 20.55

The annual Montreal Just for Laughs Festival attracts more than 2 million visitors and many stars to its indoor and outdoor shows held in French and English. The full cast of The Muppets, Saturday Night Live’s Bill Hader, and Parks and Recreation’s Aziz Ansari are just a few of the names headlining the festival.

There are 15 bachelors left. Some will dance, some will get laughs and one will be unmasked as Ashley narrows down the playing field even more. Our favourite New Orleans lawyer, Ben C, gets to make his case to Ashley with a one-on-one date. Their quiet afternoon in an outdoor mall gets louder when a flash mob breaks into a dance around them. The good times roll on as Far East Movement gives them a live concert. Ben C can dance and, after a little coaxing from the crowd, Ashley learns he can kiss, too.
