Johannesburg - The cat is finally out of the bag.

There was a shroud of mystery around where shock jock Gareth Cliff would go when he left 5fm, but on Wednesday it was revealed that the radio man is moving to TV.

The Gareth Cliff Show Live on Comedy Central will premiere on Comedy Central on Thursday at 7.30pm, and it will include the old breakfast team that Cliff left 5fm with.

The “reality radio show” is said to include in-depth interviews, powerful commentary, hysterical analysis of the day’s events and witty interaction between members of the dysfunctional team.

The team is made up of the familiar voices, and faces this time, of Mabale Moloi, Leigh-Ann Mol, Damon Kalvari and Siya Sangweni-Fynn.

Cliff promises “no music you didn’t choose; no news bulletins to interrupt a great call; and no obvious, dumb stuff you can already get just about anywhere.”

The first week’s list of guests includes controversial EFF leader Julius Malema, comedian Kagiso Lediga and Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane.

Evert van der Veer, head of Comedy Central Africa, said: “The Gareth Cliff Show Live on Comedy Central is thrilling, no-holds-barred TV that imports the unpredictability, excitement and insanity of live radio onto TV, with viewers never knowing what’s going to happen next.”

In the inaugural episode, Cliff is going to conduct a ceremonial burning of his old SABC card, an interview with his mom and dad, as well as the disclosure of “deep, dark secrets” from the team. - The Star
